Single story; 3 bedroom, 2 bath, open floorplan; hardwood floors throughout the house; large front porch (stone steps, some of the wood railing around the edge of the porch is rotted; large deck overlooking the backyard (no noticeable structure damage); the backyard is overgrown; inside, the house is in relatively decent condition, but could use some cleaning for sure. The house was well lived in, but also well-kept, whoever lived here before was certainly a very organized sort.

 Melanie King canon: The Magnus Archives canon point: Ep #189 canon cw: Well, it's a horror podcast and it does not hold back on every level of it out there. Best to just let me know if there's something you'd like me to avoid with you. Otherwise, here are some key things that might come up with Melanie, specifically: Parental death, PTSD, paranoia, distrust, eye horror, violence/quick to jump to murder as a solution. brief bio: In Melanie's world, there are 14 Fear Entities that exist in a realm alongside our own; they cannot truly be a part of our reality, but they can influence it, in various supernatural and unexplainable phenomena. The Entities feed off of the fear of both animals and humans, and are those fears made manifest. The Magnus Institute is an academic organization dedicated to researching the esoteric and paranormal, established by Jonah Magnus in 1818. The Institute is associated with one of these Entities, called The Eye. Melanie and her co-workers are the unfortunate lot that realize there is a lot more insanity going on behind the scenes and they have to stop these Fears from completing their rituals, which will give them purchase in our reality, able to change it to their liking. relationship status: Dating Georgie Barker; not sure where that leaves them since she's in a different realm. apparent age: 29 appearance: Melanie is described as skinny; she will be seen with a cane at all times unless otherwise specified. identifying marks; mental state: Melanie managed to escape The Magnus Institute, only to be dragged into a fear hellscape ruled by The Eye she so desperately tried to leave. Needless to say, she's none too pleased with this turn of events. She's also spent an unknown amount of time playing the role of a survivor in a fear-based dystopian world, her only saving grace being that she's personally unaffected by The Eye since it cannot See the blind. She is naturally suspicious and will try to categorize things in terms of the Entities she's familiar with. ABILITIES She's got good investigative skills from her time as both a ghost hunter and an employee at the Magnus Institute. Good luck getting her to use them readily; she really was trying to leave all that behind, you know. No supernatural or otherwise esoteric powers to speak of. Though, she was one of a very rare few that could tell the difference in Not-Them and those they replace. Not-Them is a sort of shapeshifter creature that replaces people and have the ability to alter memories of those that knew the person they replaced. She was also a temporary agent of the Entity known as The Slaughter, which is the fear of unpredictable violence that has strong ties to war. She was very good with being a part of The Slaughter. IC PERMISSIONS Yes ✔️ Varies ➖ No ❌ physical affection: ➖ She's not going to want it from just anyone, and to start she won't seek it out at all; she will tolerate it from people she likes, but she really isn't a casual physical affection kind of girl. flirting: ✔️ Just know her version of it is probably more brash and snarky than you might be used to? She will flirt though, but probably not much will come of it. relationships: ❌ At this point, she's still committed to her girlfriend back home. That might change, but it's not on her radar right now. sex: ❌ See above. fighting: ➖ She has no problem fighting when it's called for (and sometimes when it isn't); she tries to stay away from physical violence these days, but she could fall into it quite easily with the right push. She will spar words with you all day long, though, so if you're easily feeling-hurt, I wouldn't suggest it. injury/death: ➖ Maybe? Let's talk about it. psychic information: She will have traces of something Distinctly Other all over her. Two specific ones: her connection to The Eye would come across as dark, a hunger for knowing, a feeling of being watched/stalked (it's the weakest of these two traces); her connection to The Slaughter is dark and angry, an unfathomable rage, senseless and brutal violence. triggers: Parental death; losing her agency; feeling watched.
